Electronic Poker is a popular game that can be gambled on in casinos around the world, or in your house on your home computer, using a web connection. The rules are absolutely simple and involve the player attempting to get the best assemblage of cards possible in order to come away with cash. In this respect it’s very similar as a regular game of poker, minus the interaction with other players. Of course, techniques used in a physical game of poker, such as tricking, will be irrelevant in Video Poker.
The game of Electronic Poker starts when the player puts credits (either tokens, credit slips or money) into the video poker machine and pushes the draw button. A hand of 5 cards will be "dealt" on the video screen.
The Video Poker machine also has buttons with ‘hold’ written on them, and gamblers will need to now pick which cards to keep and which to discard. For the cards the bettor wishes to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons need to be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can choose to keep any amount of cards they wish, from all to none.
After the gambler has selected which cards she would like to keep, the player will then press ‘deal’, which will mean that any new cards will be needed they will be dealt. The game is now finished, with the Electronic Poker machine analyzing the cards to see if it matches any of the winning hands shown on the pay out schedule.
Normally, the lowest succeeding hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money increasing for each and every better hand. A list of common winning hands begins with jacks or better, and moves on to two pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It definitely goes without saying that the payment schedule can change from machine to machine, so that experienced gamblers are agile enough to choose the most beneficial machine each time.
Once the initial round has finished, the player can either decide to remain on and try to to maximize their winnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any credits that might been won. Additionally, several styles of the game give the gambler a chance to double their profits, in which case another game is played. There are also differences among individual machines, with some virtual decks including wild cards and other varying characteristics to increase playability.
