Video Poker is a favored game that is able to be bet on in casinos across the globe, or in your house on your PC, through an Internet account. The game rules are very straightforward and involve the player attempting to achieve the highest mixture of cards as you can in order to come away with money. In this respect it’s very similar as a classic game of poker, minus the interaction with any other players. Of course, methods used in a real-life game of poker, such as tricking, will be irrelevant here.
The game of Electronic Poker begins when the enthusiast inserts credits (whether it’s tokens, credit slips or cash) into the video poker machine and presses the draw button. A five card hand will be electronically ‘distributed’ on the screen.
The Video Poker game also has buttons with ‘hold’ printed on them, and players will need to now choose which cards to hold and which to discard. For the cards the player would like to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons need to be pressed so that they light up. The player can choose to keep any number of cards they want, whether it’s all or none.
After the player has decided on which cards he or she would like to keep, the player will then press ‘deal’, which will mean that any new cards are dealt if desired. The game is now completed, with the Video Poker machine scanning the cards to see if it matches any of the winning hands printed on the payment schedule.
Normally, the minimum winning hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money increasing for each better hand. A common list of winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to two pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It goes without saying that the payout schedule can vary from machine to machine, so that knowledgeable enthusiasts are able to choose the most money-making ones every instance.
After the initial round has played out, the player can either choose to continue on in an attempt to increase their earnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any money that might have been won. Additionally, some versions of the game give the player a chance to increase their wins, in which case another hand is played. There are also differences between specific games, with some virtual decks having wild cards and other differing elements to enhance playability.
