How to Play Video Poker

Video Poker is a favored game that usually will be wagered on in casinos around the globe, or alternatively at your house on your home computer, through an Internet account. The game rules are very simple and involve the player trying to get the greatest combination of cards as you can in order to acquire money. On this account it is very similar as a regular game of poker, minus the interaction with any other players. Of course, methods used in a physical game of poker, like tricking, will be useless in Video Poker.

The game of Video Poker starts when the bettor puts credits (either tokens, credit slips or cash) into the machine and pushes the play button. A five card hand will be "distributed" on the video screen.

The Electronic Poker game also has hold buttons, and players should now decide which cards to hold and which to throw away. For the cards the enthusiast wishes to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons should be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can choose to keep any amount of cards they wish, whether it’s all or none.

After the bettor has decided on which cards he or she wishes to keep, they should press ‘deal’, at which point any new cards are dealt if desired. The hand is now completed, with the Video Poker machine scanning the hand to see if it matches any of the winning hands listed in the pay out schedule.

Typically, the lowest winning hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money getting larger for each better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, and moves on to two pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It goes without saying that the payment schedule can range from machine to machine, so that skillful players are agile enough to pick the most money-making ones each instance.

After the initial round has completed, the player can either choose to continue on in an attempt to maximize their earnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any cash that they may have won. Additionally, several versions of the game allow the gambler an opportunity to increase their profits, in which case another game is played. There are also differences between individual games, with some virtual decks having wild cards and other varying elements to increase playability.
