Electronic Poker is a beloved game that is able to be played in casinos around the globe, or alternatively at home on your home computer, using a web account. The rules are very straightforward and consist of the player trying to get the highest combination of cards as you can in order to win money. On this account it’s much the same as a regular game of poker, apart from the involvement with any other players. Of course, techniques employed during a real-life game of poker, like tricking, will be irrelevant here.

The game of Electronic Poker begins when the gambler puts credits (either tokens, credit slips or money) into the video poker machine and presses the draw button. A five card hand will then be "given out" on the video screen.

The Electronic Poker machine also has buttons with ‘hold’ written on them, and enthusiasts will need to now choose which cards to hold and which to throw away. For the cards the gambler wishes to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons should be pressed so that they light up. The player can choose to keep any number of cards they want, whether it is all or none.

After the player has chosen which cards she wishes to retain, the player will then press ‘deal’, which will mean that any new cards are dealt if desired. The hand is now completed, with the Electronic Poker machine analyzing the hand to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands shown on the payout schedule.

Typically, the minimum winning hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money getting larger for each better hand. A common list of winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to two pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It is obvious that the payment schedule can range from machine to machine, so that experienced enthusiasts are agile enough to select the most profitable machine each time.

Once the first round has played out, the player can either choose to stay on and try to to increase their winnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any money that might have been won. Additionally, a few versions of the game give the gambler an opportunity to increase their profits, in which case another hand is played. There are also differences between specific games, with some decks of cards having wild cards and other differing elements to increase playability.
