For the cards the gambler wishes to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons should be pressed so that they light up. The player can decide to keep any amount of cards they want, from all to none.

After the player has chosen which cards he or she wishes to keep, the player will then press ‘deal’, which will mean that any new cards will be needed they will be handed out. The hand is now finished, with the Electronic Poker machine analyzing the cards to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands printed on the pay out schedule.

Generally, the lowest winning hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money growing for each better hand. A list of common winning hands begins with jacks or better, and moves on to two pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It is obvious that the pay out schedule can change from game to game, so that skillful enthusiasts are agile enough to select the most beneficial game every time.

After the first round has completed, the player can either choose to remain on and try to to increase their earnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any credits that might been won. Further, several versions of the game give the bettor a chance to double their profits, in which situation a further game is played. There are also differences between specific machines, with some decks of cards including wild cards and other differing aspects to increase playability.
